Photo Essay

You Heard It Here First... Or At least Saw It Here First.
Being a photographer, I've always been told to tell stories through my images. What I've done here is combine two separate outings, one covering the latest Baldwin Photographic Gallery artist panel, and the other covering a local art crawl tradition. I've combined the two stances, not to confuse you, but to hopefully enlighten those who come across to take into consideration the dwindling of support the art community faces, and how local artists still push through. I also spoke with the former curator of the Baldwin Photographic Gallery here at MTSU to get her input about the [lack of] financial support via the institution.

The show that is currently on display in the Baldwin Photographic Gallery is called Trust The Story. It is a collection of work exhibited by 30 artists, co-curated by Shannon Randol and Mary McWhorter, explaining their fears, phobias, and insecurities, as a way to connect with the audience. There is a quote along the wall that states, “Trust the story, not the storyteller.”, meaning that the work is to be determined by the viewer, not explained by the artist.

Around 6:45 that evening, the halls were scattered with less than 20 people, anticipating for the doors to open.

Harold Baldwin is escorted into the gallery.
